Before the fame and red carpets, Tracy Morgan’s love story began in the halls of high school. He married his longtime girlfriend, Sabina, in 1987 when they were just teenagers.
The couple went on to have three sons together: Gitrid, Malcolm, and Tracy Jr. For a while, they seemed to have a solid family life, but things began to shift behind the scenes. Though they remained legally married until 2009, they had reportedly been separated since around 2001.
Despite their split, Sabina remained a significant figure in Tracy’s life. When she passed away from cancer in 2016, he publicly honored her during his hosting of the 2019 ESPY Awards, speaking about the fight against cancer with heartfelt emotion.
After his divorce, Tracy dated musician Tanisha Hall. Their relationship was not only serious but also life-changing—literally. In 2010, Morgan was battling kidney failure caused by complications from diabetes, a condition he’d been living with since the ’90s.

How Tracy Met Megan Wollover?
It all started in 2011 with a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. The chemistry was instant, so much so that Tracy claims the first words he ever said to her were, “You are going to be my wife.”
That bold prediction turned real when he proposed in San Francisco. Although the engagement stayed a secret for about six months, the couple eventually shared the happy news on the red carpet at the Emmys.
By early 2013, they had more to celebrate. Megan was pregnant, and Tracy told PEOPLE he was “over the moon excited.” Their daughter, Maven Sonae, was born on July 2, 2013, in New York.
A Tragic Crash and a Hard-Fought Recovery
Just as they were preparing for marriage, life took a terrifying turn. In June 2014, a Walmart tractor-trailer struck Morgan’s limo on the New Jersey Turnpike, killing his close friend James McNair and leaving Tracy critically injured. He spent five months in a wheelchair and had to relearn how to sit, stand, and walk.
Megan stayed with him through it all. “It wasn’t even a thought for me,” she said. “When you choose to share a life with somebody…you want to choose the partner that’s going to ride with you through the good and the bad.”
Determined to walk down the aisle without a cane or wheelchair, Tracy pushed himself through therapy. He did just that when they tied the knot on August 23, 2015. “After almost losing Tracy last year, I am so grateful to finally be married to the love of my life,” Megan shared at the time.
Divorce After Five Years of Marriage
Though they weathered serious storms together, the marriage eventually came to an end. In July 2020, nearly five years after their wedding, Tracy and Megan announced their divorce.
