Howard Stern has been married to his wife, Beth Stern (née Beth Ostrosky), since 2008, and the two share a deep love for animals.

Like her husband, Beth has spent time in Hollywood as both an actress and a model. Later, she expanded her work into writing and became a passionate advocate for animal rights.

Here’s a closer look at their married life, from the first time they met — when Stern was actually on a date with someone else — to how they built a relationship filled with shared passions and lasting connection.

Who Is Howard Stern’s Wife, Beth Stern?

Beth is an actress and model who first caught attention for playing one of the daughters of Ben Stiller’s supposed birth parents in the 1996 comedy Flirting with Disaster. She later took on a self-titled role in the 2000 film Whipped, starring alongside Amanda Peet and Brian Van Holt.

She has also appeared on television, including the G4 show Filter and the Spike TV series Casino Cinema.

She Is a Model

Alongside her acting work, Stern built a successful career as a model. After three years studying at the University of Pittsburgh, she moved to New York City to pursue modeling full-time.

She went on to appear on numerous magazine covers, including three issues of FHM. The magazine also featured her in its “100 Sexiest Women of the Year” list in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007. In 2007, AskMen.com placed her 96th on its list of the Most Desirable Women.

Beth Is an Author and Animal Rights Activist

In addition to modeling and acting, Howard’s wife, Beth, has also found success as an author and a strong voice for animal rescue. In 2010, she released Oh My Dog: How to Choose, Train, Groom, Nurture, Feed, and Care for Your New Best Friend. The book, released in 2010, climbed to #5 on The New York Times Best Seller list for paperback advice books.

She and her husband, Howard, have opened their home to many rescue cats over the years, starting with Walter and Apple in 2011.

In 2014, she wrote the children’s book Yoda: The Story of a Cat and His Kittens, based on a Persian cat with a heart condition they adopted. A follow-up, Yoda Gets a Buddy, came out the next year. Money from both books went to the animal shelter, Bianca’s Furry Friends at the North Shore Animal League. It was named after their late bulldog.

In March 2018, the couple fostered a 3-month-old kitten named Olive.

Beth has also brought her love for animals to TV, hosting National Geographic’s Spoiled Rotten Pets in 2013 and the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl every year from 2014 to 2019.

She Grew Up in Pennsylvania

Beth Stern was born on July 15, 1972, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is now 53 years old. Her mother, Judy (née Jarema), worked as a model, while her father, Robert Ostrosky, was a dentist.

She grew up in a Roman Catholic household alongside her two brothers, Doug and Dave Ostrosky.

Howard and Beth First Met at a Dinner Party

Their first meeting happened in early 2000 at a dinner party — though Howard’s future spouse, Beth, was actually there on a blind date with someone else. As she later shared on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, her date turned out to be “so obnoxious,” but sitting across from her that night was Howard Stern.

Beth remembered that Howard walked in looking “in the grumpiest mood,” while another woman at the table tried to flirt with him, telling him he had “the most beautiful eyes.” Later, Beth playfully repeated the line, flipping her hair and saying, “You’ve got the most beautiful eyes.” Howard looked at her and replied, “I do?” — a moment she says felt like he looked “right through my soul.”

By 2 a.m., they had exchanged numbers. Two hours later, Howard called and asked if she wanted to come over and watch a movie. Beth threw on her overalls and a baseball cap, and from that night on, they’ve been together ever since.

They Got Engaged in 2007

After seven years together, Howard proposed to his better half Beth on February 13, 2007 — just one day before Valentine’s Day. On his radio show, he shared how he gave her a 5.2-carat diamond ring and told her, “I love you. You’re everything to me. I’m asking you to spend the rest of your life with me.”

More than a decade later, on October 9, 2019, Howard surprised Beth with a re-proposal during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Dropping to one knee, he said, “Darling, you know you have given me the best years of my life. I love you so much. You do so much for animal rescue. You know how I feel about you. I’m gonna say to you now in front of all of my best friends, my sweet love, will you marry me again?”

Beth said “yes,” and the couple sealed the moment with a kiss.

Howard and Beth Got Married in 2008

A year and a half after getting engaged, Howard and his wife, Beth, tied the knot on October 3, 2008. The ceremony took place at the iconic French restaurant Le Cirque in New York City, with a guest list that included Joan Rivers, Barbara Walters, and Kelly Ripa. Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, officiated the wedding.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 2017 about the secret to their long-lasting marriage, Beth said, “We just really like each other at the end of the day. It’s like a slumber party every night. He’s an incredible husband and a great friend. He’s so sensitive … so quiet and shy off the air if you can believe it.”

On October 14, 2019, shortly after Howard’s on-air re-proposal, the couple said “I do” for a second time during a surprise wedding on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The Couple Doesn’t Have Any Kids

Howard and Beth have never had children together. Beth has been open about their decision, once saying, “I’m turning 41 in July. I feel like that door is closing. We really talked about it and considered it last year and the year before, but I think we’re really fine without children.”

Howard is already a father to three daughters from his first marriage to Alison Berns — Emily Beth (born 1983), Debra Jennifer (born 1986), and Ashley Jade (born 1993).

These days, Howard and his wife, Beth, spend most of their time in the Town of Southampton on Long Island with their beloved cats. They also keep homes in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida.

How Much Is Beth Stern’s Net Worth?

Beth has an estimated net worth of $50 million, while Howard Stern’s fortune stands at around $650 million as of 2025. Combined, their net worth is close to $700 million.
