Cheryl Scott is a TV meteorologist currently with Chicago’s ABC 7 Eyewitness News. She previously worked at WMAZ-TV, NBC 5 Chicago, and WBIR-TV in Tennessee, covering both morning and evening weather.
Outside of her career, Cheryl’s personal life has included a broken engagement, speculation about a possible husband, and the loss of her father to alcoholism.
Here’s her full bio!
Who Are Her Parents? Father Died Early
Cheryl Scott was born on January 19, 1985, in New Jersey. She is the daughter of Marie Picciano Scott and grew up in Atco, Camden County, with her two older brothers, Kevin and Brian Scott.
Her father passed away years ago. On Father’s Day in 2020, the media personality posted a throwback photo of her parents and brothers on Facebook with the caption: “Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing Dads out there! And also, thinking of all of you who have lost your father.”
She also shared, “My dad passed away about ten years ago after living most of his life as an alcoholic.”
Despite the loss, Scott said her mother and brothers have remained her strength: “Yes, unfortunate, but I remind myself every day that I am blessed with so many amazing people in my life and my mom and my brothers are truly rockstars!”
School and College
She attended Paul VI High School, a private Catholic school in Haddon Township, Camden County. During her time there, Scott played soccer and was part of the track and field program.
She later went on to study at Brown University, an Ivy League school in Providence, Rhode Island, and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Geological Science.
Later, Cheryl enrolled at Mississippi State University and earned her Meteorology Certification in 2010.
What Is Cheryl Scott Popular For?
She is best known as a meteorologist for ABC7 Eyewitness News in Chicago, where she has been since December 2014.
Her work with the station began earlier, in September 2011, when she served as the morning and weekend meteorologist.
She started her broadcasting career in 2006 as an intern at WCAU-NBC10 in Philadelphia. The following year, she became a weekend weather reporter for WSEE-TV.
She then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she worked as a weekend meteorologist for WBIR-TV, the local NBC affiliate.
Does She Have a Husband?
Scott isn’t married, but she was once engaged to Dante Deiana, a DJ and music programmer.
Dante proposed in July 2018 during a trip to Hawaii, getting down on one knee at the top of Haleakala Volcano. A few days later, Cheryl shared the moment on Instagram with a photo of Dante kneeling with a ring. She captioned it:
“Dante Deiana, This proposal is beyond words and so magical. You have taken my heart to a new level… sky high! I am so excited to share the rest of life and every adventure with you! Thank you for making me feel so incredibly special and kudos to pulling off this epic, surprise proposal on top of Haleakala Volcano!”
She later told the Chicago Tribune, “I totally blacked out when it was all happening.”
The two met in 2016 at a charity event in Chicago and started dating shortly after. Their relationship appeared strong, and they enjoyed traveling together.
But the engagement never turned into a marriage. Cheryl didn’t seem in a hurry to walk down the aisle, and by 2022, they had quietly gone their separate ways.
Past Affairs
Back in early 2015, Scott was rumored to be romantically involved with former Canadian ice hockey player Patrick Sharp. She quickly shut down the speculation with an Instagram post, writing, “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed.”
She was also briefly linked to Josh Lachelli, the owner of Home Slice Pizza. The two were reported to have dated between late 2015 and 2016.
Scott Is Currently Dating a Firefighter Boyfriend
She is currently in a relationship with her new boyfriend, Tyler Cole. Scott introduced him publicly on May 30, 2023, by sharing a series of beachside photos on Instagram with the caption, “My #1.”
Tyler works with the U.S. Forest Service’s Dalton Hot Shots near Glendora. In a 2020 interview with Spectrum News during the Bobcat Fire in the Angeles National Forest, he spoke about the demands of the job, saying, “This is our 11th fire we’ve been on, working incidents for 106 days as of today with 12 days off since mid-June.”
Scott has openly expressed how proud she is of Cole. In early July 2025, she posted photos celebrating his official appointment as a firefighter for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Someone received his shield and is officially a @losangelesfiredepartment firefighter!,” She wrote. “Congrats My Love! Wow! It’s been 525 days since you started this journey with LAFD but I know this has been a dream of yours since you’ve been a child. You should be so proud!”
She’s also shared other moments with him online — from Valentine’s Day and birthdays to smaller everyday milestones.
Together, the couple also has two puppies, Littie and Lola, both of whom have their own Instagram accounts with thousands of followers.
