Sammy Sosa, the former Cubs superstar, is back in the spotlight—and this time, for all the right reasons.
After more than 20 years away, the MLB legend finally made his long-awaited return to Wrigley Field, and the moment was nothing short of emotional. Once the pride of Chicago and the face of the Cubs, Sosa hadn’t been back on the field since his controversial exit in 2004. But during a recent home game against the Mariners, things came full circle.

Thanks to the network he built during his baseball career, he’s been able to branch out into deals around the world. He spends time traveling to places like Paris, Hong Kong, Dubai, London, Panama, and the Dominican Republic—closing deals and growing his business along the way.
“I’m not the kind of person who goes back to the field,” Sosa told ESPN. “I have a good vision of what I want outside the field. Maybe one day, my dream is to buy a baseball team—but this is my dream.”
He also made it clear that he’s not chasing attention. “I’m happy. I don’t want to talk about it so much. I do not want people to think I am looking for something. I’m OK. I’m fine. I love my life. I have my family, my friends.”
That said, his business ventures haven’t been without bumps. In 2016, The Denver Post reported that a rental company in Aspen sued him for $161,500 after a luxury home deal fell through. His Miami-based firm, Riverhead Homes LLC—of which he was said to be the owner—was accused of delaying a $100,000 deposit on a seven-bedroom property. The deal fell through, and the homeowner rented it to someone else instead. Sosa and his team never publicly responded to the case.
He’s Also Active in Charity Work
Sosa has stayed involved in giving back through the Sammy Sosa Foundation. Over the years, he’s taken part in several charitable efforts, especially those connected to the Cubs community.
According to CBS News, he once helped hand out two $10,000 checks to charities supporting first responders and even made a stop at the Chicago Fire Department Engine 98. He’s also been involved with Club 400 Cubs, a nonprofit that raises money for local causes tied to the team.
