PFT Commenter, the on-air persona of Eric Sollenberger, is a co-host of the Barstool Sports podcast “Pardon My Take” and performs with the band Pup Punk. He’s built a reputation for pointed, often irreverent commentary on both football and American politics.
Despite his public presence, Sollenberger keeps his private life largely under wraps—particularly matters surrounding his marriage. It has, however, emerged that he has already been divorced, a fact that has surprised many of his followers.
They Were Married on September 10, 2011
Eric and his wife Steph exchanged vows on September 10, 2011, in a warm ceremony held at his parents’ home, attended by close friends and family.
The wedding featured personal touches, including a thumbprint tree for guests to sign. Steph’s uncle Mark, who lives in Oregon, handled photography for the early moments and captured the bridal party’s excitement.
The mood of the day was playful — Eric and his groomsmen kept things light during photos — and despite recent monsoon rains, the setting held up beautifully.
Friends and family handled much of the styling and decor, with flowers provided by Zoe Sollenberger. Their wedding cake was made by Evan Baltazar.
A memorable highlight came during the best man’s toast: Eric’s brother combined humor and heartfelt moments, finishing with a song for the newlyweds.
Details about their current relationship status are limited because Eric and Steph have stayed private on social media and away from much press. In 2020, a Reddit user pointed to a Hard Factor episode from 4/30/2020 — around the 65-minute mark — saying friends on that show confirmed PFT Commenter was still married,
the Reddit post noted.
Still, an early 2024 Reddit post disputed that account, with a different user claiming the couple had been divorced for years: that thread argued otherwise.
From Barstool Beginnings to National Spotlight
Born January 31, 1985, Sollenberger rose to prominence through his work at Barstool Sports, where his satirical take on athletics found a large following. In September 2015 he released an e-book titled “Goodell vs. Obama: The Battle for the Future of the NFL.”
Later in 2015 he broadened his reach by weighing in on the 2016 U.S. presidential race and becoming a visible voice during the televised Republican debates.
In March 2016 Sollenberger came on board Barstool full time and helped launch the “Pardon My Take” podcast with Dan Katz. The program quickly climbed to the top of iTunes’ “Sports and Recreation” chart. His knack for pairing comedy with sports commentary produced standout moments, such as slipping into Super Bowl LI’s Opening Night and making appearances on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
In January 2020 Eric tried out as a placekicker for the XFL’s DC Defenders, and on November 18, 2023 he served as a celebrity guest picker on College GameDay for James Madison University.
