John MacArthur, founder of Grace to You, a nationally syndicated Bible teaching program on radio and television, and longtime pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, died on July 14, 2025.
He also served as chancellor emeritus of The Master’s University and The Master’s Seminary in Santa Clarita.
MacArthur had led Grace Community Church, based in a working-class neighborhood of Sun Valley, since 1969. He was hospitalized after contracting pneumonia the week before.
“It is with both sadness and hope that the elders of Grace Community Church announce that Pastor John MacArthur has gone to be with the Lord after 56 years of faithful ministry,” read the statement published on the church’s website. “Last week, Pastor John unexpectedly contracted pneumonia, and the Lord took him home on Monday, July 14.”
Since his passing, many have been curious about how much MacArthur earned during his lifetime and what his net worth was at the time of his death.
How Much Was His Worth and Annual Salary?
MacArthur’s net worth at the time of his death in 2025 was estimated between $10 million and $15 million.
Though he was widely known for preaching against prosperity theology and often criticized wealth-driven ministries, MacArthur’s own financial footprint was significant. In 1996, MacArthur purchased a second home—this time a villa located about an hour west of Santa Clarita. The largest of his known real estate investments is a Colorado Springs estate. Built in 2007, this expansive property includes seven bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, and spreads across five acres.
