Betsy Youngblood is known as the wife of Lee Corso, the veteran sports broadcaster, ESPN analyst, and former college football coach. Corso has been on College GameDay since the show first aired in 1987, making him one of the longest-running personalities in sports television.
Long before becoming a fixture on ESPN, Corso had already built a long history in the game. He played in the 1950s and later moved into coaching, spending 26 years on the sidelines at five different schools.
He guided Louisville from 1969 to 1972, Indiana from 1973 to 1982, and Northern Illinois in 1984.
In 1987, Corso joined ESPN as an analyst. Nearly four decades later, on April 17, 2025, he announced that he would retire from broadcasting. His final College GameDay appearance was set for August 30, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, covering the Texas–Ohio State matchup. As he traveled to that farewell broadcast, a Southwest gate agent paused to honor him and extended warm words to his wife, recognizing the couple on their way to Columbus.
Lee and Betsy have been together for nearly seventy years. Over that time, they raised four children and now enjoy a large family of grandchildren.

Corso and Youngblood’s Marriage Since 1957
Corso and his wife, Betsy Youngblood, tied the knot in 1957 and have been together ever since. They first crossed paths as students at Florida State University while registering for classes.
Betsy has stayed private through the years, but Corso often speaks of her with gratitude. At the 2025 ESPYs, he said, “My wife, Betsy, and I have been married for 69 years, and I just wanted to thank her for loving me through it all.”
Corso Credits His Wife and Family for Being the “Luckiest Guy Alive”
In an interview with Men’s Journal, Corso was asked why he often calls himself “the luckiest guy alive.” He said it was because of his health, his wife, and his family.
“I’ve got good health and a great family. My wife and I have been married 59 years, I’ve got four children, 10 grandchildren. I’ve had two careers — one in coaching and one in television — and I’ve gone through it without sacrificing my integrity. I’m proud of being a head coach for 17 years without once having an NCAA investigator question any of my players.”

Youngblood Was by Her Husband’s Side After His Stroke in 2009
On May 16, 2009, Corso suffered a stroke at his home in Florida that left him partly paralyzed. It was Betsy Youngblood who found him and got him to the hospital, staying close through every step of the emergency.
Corso spent three days in intensive care and another week in the hospital before beginning a long rehabilitation.
The stroke left him unable to speak for a month and slowed his thinking. From then on, he had to script and rehearse his lines on College GameDay instead of speaking freely. Still, he made it back to the set later that year, with his better half, Betsy, supporting him through the recovery.
Lee Corso’s Family: Four Children and Ten Grandchildren
Corso and Youngblood have four children — their daughter Diane and sons Dan, Steve, and David. They are also grandparents to ten grandchildren and have several great-grandchildren.
Their son, Dan, serves as president of the Atlanta Sports Council, which works to develop sports in the Metro Atlanta area.
Steve, now an executive at Revelohealth, once played for his father at Indiana. Corso grew emotional during a 2017 College GameDay broadcast when he recalled a last-second win over Kentucky in 1980, pointing out that the player who caught the winning touchdown was his son Steve.
The couple’s only daughter, Diane, is an advocate for those facing eating disorders and wrote The Uncomfortable Truth about her own struggles. She now lives in Orlando with her three sons.
Where Does Lee Corso Live Now?
Corso lives with his wife, Betsy, in Lake Mary, Florida. The couple bought a 1.21-acre property there in 1986 for $82,500 and built a 3,000-square-foot home on the lakefront.
