Jim Cantore, the famous face of The Weather Channel known for standing in the middle of hurricanes, was once married to Tamra Cantore, a former executive at the same network. They tied the knot in 1990 and eventually went their separate ways in 2009. During their time together, they welcomed two children, Christina and Ben, both of whom live with Fragile X Syndrome.
Fast forward to today, and Cantore’s love life is once again making headlines. He’s now dating Jobie Lagrange, a fellow meteorologist who’s balancing her rising career with raising two kids of her own. Jobie earned her atmospheric science degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in May 2024. Interestingly, it was actually a video she posted in 2023—about juggling parenthood and her growing career—that first caught Jim’s attention.
Their initial connection quietly grew behind the scenes. Given Jobie’s still-developing career, they kept things private at first. But as time passed, she grew more comfortable being seen publicly with Jim, and in May 2024, they officially confirmed their relationship.
Jim even marked the occasion on Instagram, giving a playful shoutout to Jobie’s Louisiana roots, saying she spices up his life both in the kitchen and beyond. While Jim is based in Atlanta, Jobie continues to live in Lafayette, Louisiana, and they’re making the long-distance work for now.
Jim Cantore’s Girlfriend is 28 Years His Junior
Jim has been reporting on the weather since July 1986, stepping into the field right after finishing college. Fun fact: when he was already tracking low-pressure systems and winter storms, his current girlfriend hadn’t even been born yet.
Today, Jim is 62, while Jobie is 34, and their 28-year age gap hasn’t gone unnoticed. When Jim first shared a photo of them together on Instagram, some followers couldn’t resist dropping playful comments like, “Cute daughter,” and, “Good to see a Dad spend quality time with his daughter 🧒 much respect ✊.”
Despite the murmurs online, Jobie isn’t letting the chatter disrupt her peace. She’s unbothered by the age talk and focused on the harmony they share. “People forget we are people also with stories,” she told The Advocate. “I knew once we went public, a lot of people would have opinions. But to me, age is not important when that person brings you peace, and he truly does.”
But while people online had their jokes, Jobie was busy building a strong career of her own. After earning her atmospheric science degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the summer of 2024, she interned at the National Weather Center, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Just a few months later, in November 2024, she landed a job at KATC Channel 3 in Lafayette, Louisiana, as a multimedia journalist and meteorologist. Sharing her excitement on Facebook, she wrote, “This first week has been amazing, and I can’t wait to be able to keep you all informed on both the news and the weather from the place that’s so central to our South Louisiana culture.”
He Remains Close With His Ex-Wife
Jim and Tamra might not be together anymore, but their commitment to co-parenting is solid. Despite their divorce 17 years ago, they’ve maintained a close relationship, prioritizing a supportive and unified environment for their children. This dedication is apparent not just on special occasions but consistently throughout the year.

For instance, on Mother’s Day 2024, Jim took to Instagram to share a glimpse of their day, noting, “Got to spend Mother’s Day lunch with the mother of my children… This woman is nothing short of amazing.” He praises Tamra’s resilience in facing young-onset Parkinson’s disease and her enduring role as an incredible mother, highlighting their teamwork, “We’ve always been a great team together or apart.”
