On Saturday, July 19, 13-year-old Anthony Zecca was fatally shot at an apartment in Naples, Florida. TMZ reported that the shooting happened at Gregory Zecca’s residence and was described by the family as a “tragic accident.” Gregory allegedly fired the shot that killed his own son.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they responded to a call about a shooting around 8 p.m. that evening. While they haven’t publicly identified those involved, they confirmed the incident was isolated and said no arrests have been made at this time.
Who Is Gregory Zecca?
Zecca is the son of Francie Chapman, who married Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman in 2021. The couple came together after both lost their spouses—Dog’s fifth wife, Beth Chapman, passed away in June 2019 after battling throat cancer at age 51.
Following the tragic death of Gregory’s 13-year-old son, Anthony, the couple shared a joint statement with TMZ: “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
He Worked on the Dog’s Bounty Hunting Team
Gregory worked alongside Duane “Dog” Chapman and his daughter Lyssa Chapman as part of their bounty hunting team.
He also had a strong interest in firearms. In 2021, Zecca took his son Anthony to a gun range, and they later visited a gun store together. Photos from both outings were shared on his Instagram, showing the two spending time together around their shared interest in guns.
