Bo Bragason has been cast as Princess Zelda in Nintendo’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, where the young star’ll appear alongside Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who’s playing Link.
The announcement came directly from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, who shared the news on Twitter on July 16.
He posted official photos of the two actors fully suited as their characters and wrote, “This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”
The film is currently set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
Bragason has been acting from an early age and has taken on several roles over the years, but this project is expected to be her biggest yet.

Bragason was born in 2004 in Chichester, West Sussex, England, and turned 21 in 2025. A year after her birth, in July, her family moved to Luxembourg, where she spent the first seven years of her childhood. In September 2012, the family relocated again, settling in Dordogne, France.
She returned to England in 2014, and the family moved into the village of Mere in Cheshire. Bo then attended Knutsford Academy for her secondary education.
She Began Her Acting Career as a Child
The budding actress entered the acting world early, landing a small role at just three years old in the 2007 French-language film Hidden Love.
With support from her family, Bragason got involved in local theater groups, including Knutsford Little Theatre and the National Youth Theatre. Alongside that, she took Saturday acting classes at David Johnson Drama in Manchester, building on her skills from childhood.
