Sophia Hutchins, an American entrepreneur and founder of LUMASOL, died in a tragic ATV accident in Malibu on July 2, 2025, at the age of 29.
According to TMZ, Hutchins was driving an ATV on a road near her longtime friend Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home when she collided with the rear bumper of a passing vehicle. The impact forced the ATV off the edge of the road, sending it more than 350 feet down into a ravine. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The two people inside the vehicle were unharmed.
Well known as Jenner’s close friend and former manager, Sophia had also been building a presence in the beauty world. As the face behind LUMASOL, a tech-driven sunscreen brand, she’d made waves in the skincare space with her business acumen and personal branding.
So, with her life cut short, the question remains—how much was her worth at the time of her death?
Her Fortune as the Founder of LUMASOL
Hutchins launched LUMASOL with more than ambition—she had structure, funding, and a clear vision. At the time of her passing, her net worth was reported to be $5 million, much of it tied to her role as founder and CEO of the health-tech skincare brand that had begun turning heads in the beauty industry.

Born on April 1, 1996, in Bellevue, Washington, Hutchins studied economics at Pepperdine University, graduating in 2018.
The idea for LUMASOL came during her senior year, in a moment of frustration shared with a friend—whose father, as it happened, had founded Kiehl’s. That conversation led her to connect with Nick Drake, EVP at T-Mobile, who encouraged her to take the concept seriously. With his guidance and help from a top consulting firm, she began developing what would become a lightweight, post-makeup SPF mist.
She gained further support through her close connection to Jenner, who was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2018. Being around her inner circle gave Sophia direct exposure to the world of celebrity beauty entrepreneurship. She spent time observing and learning from Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, both of whom had turned their social media empires into billion-dollar cosmetics ventures.
By September 2019, LUMASOL had secured a $3 million seed investment from Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and Greycroft Ventures. The funding allowed her to grow a team of 30 employees and prepare the launch of her flagship product: a fragrance-free SPF 50+ mist, FDA-approved and designed specifically to be worn over makeup.
How Much Did She Make as Caitlyn Jenner’s Manager?
Alongside her role as an entrepreneur, Sophia also managed the public and business affairs of Caitlyn Jenner. She held the position of CEO of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation.
The two met in 2015, just as Jenner was stepping into the public spotlight post-transition. Hutchins quickly became a visible part of Caitlyn’s life and appeared in several episodes of I Am Cait, the documentary series that chronicled Jenner’s new life and advocacy work.
While her exact earnings as a manager were never made public, her role likely came with a substantial paycheck. Jenner—whose net worth is estimated at $100 million—has remained active through television projects, brand partnerships, and public appearances, many of which Hutchins helped coordinate behind the scenes.
In 2020, Hutchins also tried to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but she wasn’t cast in the final lineup.
