Waleska ‘Wally’ Williams Today: Family, Fitness Career and a New Partnership

Table of Content Show

Waleska “Wally” Williams, 57, is the former wife of Bernie Williams, the well-known ex–Major League Baseball outfielder who also plays guitar. The couple married on February 23, 1990, and their marriage lasted nearly 30 years.

They raised three children—Alex, Beatriz, and Bianca—each following different paths. Alex keeps a low profile. Beatriz pursued art professionally, earning a degree in Art History from Johns Hopkins and continuing her studies in New York and France. The youngest, Bianca, is a Visual/Art Director based in Armonk, New York; she and her sister collaborated on an art project inspired by the Taíno mother-goddess Atabey, documented here: Instagram.

Family has long been central to their lives. In the early 2000s, when the Yankees unexpectedly called off their annual Family Day—a tradition that allowed players to bring their children onto the field—Waleska pushed back, with Bernie backing her up. Their efforts led to the team reinstating Family Day the following day. Their children remain Wally’s priority and motivation.

Despite their long partnership and shared family life, Wally and Bernie divorced in 2018.

Here’s a look at what she’s been doing since.

Waleska Has Rediscovered Romance

Waleska didn’t remain single long after her divorce. She entered a relationship that lasted until around 2021, but it ultimately ended and they went their separate ways.

Today she’s in a happy, fulfilling partnership — one that she describes as exciting and positive. Her children are enthusiastic about it as well, which has made this chapter especially meaningful for her.

She shared her feelings on social media via a Facebook post: “After 2-1/2 since my last relationship, I’m ready for this new adventure with a lot of optimism and enthusiasm ❤️,” she wrote. “My children love it, as much as I do, which makes this something very special 🥰

She’s chosen not to disclose her partner’s name publicly, but the joyful photos she posts make clear how content she is in this relationship.

Her ex-husband has also moved on and is frequently seen attending events with his new girlfriend.

She Lost Both of Her Parents

Waleska, born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, is the daughter of Elizabeth Cardona and Jamie Ortega, both of whom have passed away. Jamie died in 1985, and Elizabeth succumbed in 2017 after a lengthy fight with metastatic breast cancer.

As a tribute to her mother, she shared a post on Facebook,

How do I say good bye in that cemetery to the woman that gave me life and taught me how to live? (sic)

The message concluded with, “I love you mama! And I will miss you all the days of my life! Watch over us. See you in heaven.

She and her sister, Dámaris E. Porsch-Ortega, continue to honor the values their parents instilled in them.

ISSA-Certified Personal Trainer

Waleska has turned a longtime interest in health into professional credentials. She began her education at Wesleyan Academy in Puerto Rico, earned a degree from the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, and later moved to the United States to study at The Culinary Institute of America. She is an ISSA-certified personal trainer and runs her own practice, Wally’s Wellness, where she coaches clients toward better fitness.

Alongside personal training, she joined Pickleball America as an instructor in June 2024, teaching players from beginners to those refining advanced skills.

Now based in Stamford, Connecticut, Waleska stays active on Facebook, sharing fitness tips and engaging with her local community. For more about her professional services, see her certified personal trainer profile.
