Nelly Korda is preparing for one of the biggest moments of her life away from the golf course.
The world No. 1 announced her engagement to businessman Casey Gunderson in November 2025, sharing the happy news with a romantic beach photoshoot on Instagram. In the photos, the couple held up a newspaper with the headline, “We’re Getting Married!”

While Korda and her future husband, Gunderson, generally keep their relationship private, the Olympic gold medalist has occasionally opened up about the man she will marry. During an appearance at Riviera Country Club in Southern California, she described Gunderson as her strongest supporter.
“He’s amazing, he’s probably the best support system,” Korda said. “He always has my back.”
The couple plans to tie the knot in 2027 in the United States. Although they have not publicly revealed the exact venue, Korda shared that the ceremony will take place “on the water.” She also hinted that the setting itself will play a major role in the celebration, calling it a beautiful location that will work naturally with its surroundings.
Wedding planning, however, has come with its own challenges.
“It’s an exciting time,” Korda said. “Planning a wedding is a lot. It’s very stressful.”
The Korda family will actually have two weddings to celebrate in 2027. Nelly’s younger brother, professional tennis player Sebastian Korda, is also engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Ivana Nedved, and plans to get married in Europe. While Sebastian heads overseas for his ceremony, Nelly has chosen to keep hers closer to home.
Another family member is already expected to have a special role in the big day. Korda jokingly revealed that her older sister, Jessica Korda, will likely be her maid of honor, although she admitted she had not officially asked her yet. Nelly previously served as Jessica’s maid of honor when she married Johnny DelPrete.
Here is everything to know about Nelly Korda’s husband-to-be, Casey Gunderson, and their relationship.
Who is Nelly Korda’s future husband, Casey Gunderson?
Gunderson is an American businessman and former college football player.
He currently serves as Vice President of Florida Engineering, LLC, a company based in his home state of Florida.
Long before entering the business world, Gunderson built a strong athletic background. He attended IMG Academy, where he became a three-year starter on the varsity football team. During his high school career, he played both wide receiver and safety, helping the program secure 16 wins across two seasons.
After graduating from IMG Academy, he continued his football career at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. From 2014 to 2018, Gunderson was a member of the Bryant Bulldogs football team while pursuing his college education.
How did they meet?
Nelly Korda and her partner, Casey Gunderson, first crossed paths as students at IMG Academy in Florida.
Although they spent time on the same campus and saw each other regularly, they were not particularly close during their high school years. Korda later recalled that she was often around Gunderson, but the two never really got to know each other before graduation.
Life eventually took them in different directions. Korda went on to become one of the biggest names in women’s golf, while Gunderson pursued college football and later built a career in business.
More than a decade later, their paths crossed again when Gunderson returned to Florida in late 2024. What began as a reunion quickly turned into something more, and the pair started dating shortly afterward.
Their relationship moved quickly from there, leading to an engagement less than a year later.
Nelly Korda’s Husband-to-Be Proposed in 2025
Casey Gunderson proposed to Korda during a beachside outing, and the couple shared their engagement news publicly on November 28, 2025.
Before getting down on one knee, Gunderson made sure to take an important step. According to Golfweek, he visited the Korda family home to ask for their blessing. He even arrived with fruit-filled dumplings for her parents, a thoughtful gesture that left a strong impression on the golf star.
Korda later praised the traditional approach, appreciating the care and respect Gunderson showed toward her family.
The proposal also came with a ring that carried personal meaning. While Korda does not wear it during tournaments, she has spoken warmly about the design. Gunderson included both of their birthstones in the band, adding a sentimental touch to the piece.
“He thought about it, yeah,” Korda said with a smile while speaking to Access Hollywood.
