Natanael Cano‘s love affair with music started with an unexpected gift. When he was 11, his father, Ruben Cano, handed him a guitar. Neither of them could have guessed how that simple act would change everything. The young Natanael dove into learning, glued to YouTube tutorials, determined to master the instrument. Soon enough, he was stealing the show at family get-togethers with his newfound talent.
Growing up in Sonora, Mexico, he was known for his lively spirit and strong will. His parents often reminisce about his childhood energy. His father, Ruben, recalls, “He was a fidgety kid.” His mother, Ciria Monge, adds to this, remembering, “Since he was a kid he’s had his personality, very decisive.”
That same restless spirit eventually led him to Los Angeles in pursuit of a career in music. “I had a great childhood there. I love it,” he says of his hometown. “I came to Los Angeles looking for work. I got the opportunity to come and I took it.” In this new city, he honed his unique sound of “corridos tumbados,” which quickly caught the ear of listeners and set the stage for his rise to fame.
In appreciation, one of his first major expenditures after achieving fame was purchasing a new home for his parents—a gesture that filled them with immense pride and was celebrated by many, including Jimmy Humilde, CEO of Rancho Humilde Records. Humilde shared,
…he bought a house for his mom, it was the first check that he made, he didn’t buy anything for himself, he didn’t have absolutely not even a penny until his other royalty check arrived. (sic)
Cano’s gratitude shines through in his music too. In Diamantes, he sings lyrics that translate to, “My mother doesn’t suffer anymore, and she even looks different. She doesn’t stress anymore because there are no worries…” These words paint a vivid picture of how his success has lifted his family’s life.

Through it all, Cano remains deeply connected to his roots, and his family continues to be his inspiration and driving force. Reflecting on his journey and the role his family has played, he said,
My family is very proud and happy to see everything that is happening right now in my career and my life. They will always be my inspiration to get ahead.

Natanael’s biggest cheerleaders aside from his parents? His siblings, hands down. His sister Daneiry Cano keeps fans in the loop on TikTok, sharing backstage peeks and family moments. She’s a regular at his shows, camera always ready to capture the magic.
But Daneiry’s not the only one with Natanael fever. His older brother Jesus Cano showed off his son’s room on Facebook, where he takes center stage. “The headboard of the bedroom of your nephew nat shorty look how beautiful,” he wrote, beaming with pride.
