Manwell Reyes is best recognized as the husband of Anjelah Johnson, the actress, comedian, and former NFL cheerleader. Johnson gained national attention during the 13th season of MADtv with characters like the Vietnamese nail salon worker Mỹ Linh/Tammy and the fast food employee turned rapper Bon Qui Qui.
Reyes has also built his own place in the entertainment world as a singer and rapper, while also being the life partner Johnson long hoped for. She has spoken openly about what her spouse means to her, once saying,
“I waited a long time for my husband. When he finally crossed my path he was more than I could ever hope for. He was beyond my greatest dreams or expectations.”
She added, “I wondered to myself if I even deserved this. I prayed to God and wrote in my journal, ‘Is he mine?… Do I get to keep him?’ Like he was a puppy I found on the street!”

Who Is Manwell Reyes?
Reyes was born on July 28, 1980, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Jorge Reyes and Carmen Bultron. He spent his early years in Germany before moving to the United States, where he grew up in states including Texas, Kansas, and Florida. He is of German-American background, and he discovered his passion for music while attending Christian summer camps.
In 2003, Reyes teamed up with Blanca Reyes and Pablo Villatoro to form the Christian hip-hop group Group 1 Crew. Their music caught industry attention on MySpace in 2006, leading to a recording deal with Warner/Word Records. The band’s self-titled debut album followed in 2007, putting Reyes at the forefront of the Christian music scene.
Group 1 Crew went on to win five GMA Dove Awards, and tracks from their 2010 album Outta Space Love were even featured on America’s Got Talent. As the band’s frontman and primary songwriter, Reyes performed for audiences of more than a million people, sold over 250,000 records, and built a strong social media following with his #MindofManny posts.
Beyond music, Reyes expanded his reach by hosting Nuvo TV’s fashion-and-music series The Collective and acting in films such as Sony Pictures’ Mom’s Night Out and Restored Me.
In 2017, Reyes left Group 1 Crew to explore new projects. He later formed PANDA$, signed with Capitol Records, and launched the podcast Nights at the Round Table. More recently, the artist has worked with Resin8 Music and added real estate investment to his professional ventures.
Anjelah and Manwell Got Married in 2011
Johnson first met her husband, Manwell Reyes, at a mutual friend’s wedding, a chance encounter that quickly turned into something lasting.
The two tied the knot on June 11, 2011, in Half Moon Bay, California. Johnson later shared that her sister, Veronica, took the reins in planning the entire wedding while she was still on the road performing stand-up, right up until the week before the big day. Everything came together beautifully — though Johnson admitted she was sick on the actual day of her wedding.
Since then, the couple has remained open about their relationship. They often share glimpses of their strong bond on social media.
Daughter, Rosalie Harlow Reyes
On December 29, 2022, Anjelah and her hubby, Manwell, announced that they were expecting their first child in 2023. Their daughter, Rosalie Harlow Reyes, was born on June 14, 2023.
A few days after her birth, Johnson marked the occasion of Father’s Day with a simple note to her husband on Instagram: “Happy first Father’s Day @manwellreyes!”
She also introduced Rosalie to the world, writing, “‘Rosie’ came to us on Wednesday at 6 lbs 7oz. She’s absolutely perfect and we’ve never been more happy and tired at the same time.”
Johnson added that her hubby, Reyes, had already taken charge as a new dad: “I have yet to change a diaper or learn how to swaddle because Manny has taken the lead on all of that for me. Best dad already, I’m so grateful for you my Lovercito. I can’t believe we have a daughter.”
She closed by telling fans, “I’m looking forward to updating you guys on her birth story and the meaning of her name but for now we are just going to enjoy our sweet baby girl. Thank you for all the prayers and love you guys have been sending.”
