Brooke’s Husband, Steven, is An NHL Player
Oleksy was born on February 4, 1986, in Chesterfield Township, Michigan, to parents Andrew and Susan Oleksy. He graduated from L’Anse Creuse High School-North in 2004 and later became the school’s first alumnus to become a professional athlete. In 2022, he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame and shared photos from the ceremony with his family on Instagram.
He attended Lake Superior State University, where he played on the ice hockey team and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing in 2009. Shortly after graduation, he began his professional hockey career with the Las Vegas Wranglers during the 2008–09 ECHL season.
Over the years, Oleksy played for several ECHL and AHL teams, including the Idaho Steelheads, Hershey Bears, and San Diego Gulls. He also reached the NHL level, playing for the Washington Capitals and later the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was with the Penguins when they won the Stanley Cup in 2016.
Outside of professional play, he founded the Eastside Elite Hockey League in 2008, originally as a men’s summer league. It has since grown into ESE Hockey, which now offers tournaments in Florida and Michigan, along with golf challenges and charity events that support community organizations. His most recent stint on the ice was with the Orlando Solar Bears during the 2022–23 season.
Her Past Engagement to Phil Costa Ended in 2013
Before marrying Steven Oleksy, Brooke was engaged to former Dallas Cowboys center Phil Costa. He proposed on June 29, 2013, during a trip to Las Vegas. The moment took place on the balcony of The Bellagio Hotel, where Costa got down on one knee as Brooke captured the moment on Instagram, calling it the “Happiest moment of my LIFE.”
She added, “I am marrying my best friend. I wouldn’t choose anyone else. I am so lucky and so grateful.” Her mother, Linda Hogan, also posted the news, writing, “My Brooke is getting married!!”
However, the engagement didn’t last long. By November 2013, Brooke had ended the relationship. A representative confirmed the split, saying she had chosen to focus on her music and had moved back to Los Angeles to be closer to her mom while working on her next album.
Around two years later, a different controversy brought renewed public attention to Brooke’s personal life. In 2015, transcripts of an audio recording surfaced in which Hulk Hogan made racial remarks about Brooke’s then-boyfriend, who was Black.
In the leaked tape, he described himself as the only man worthy of marrying her and threatened to bring “Hulkamania” on anyone who did. The backlash led to WWE severing ties with him. Brooke later posted a poem in defense of her father, despite the public outrage over his comments.
