Kyra Waits captured widespread attention with a stirring “American Idol” performance, and she credits much of her strength and motivation to her husband, Dylan Rowe.
Though only 25 years old, the Berea, Kentucky native has a voice and presence that earned a standing ovation from viewers and judges alike.
Born on December 5, 2000, Kyra grew up influenced by her mother, Tasha, a noted bluegrass singer, and leaned on that musical heritage as she pursued her dreams. After years of perseverance, including multiple attempts, she finally landed a memorable moment on the “American Idol” stage.
When the audition episode aired on March 3, Waits told the judges about the five-year journey of tryouts and setbacks that shaped her path. Her rendition of Patty Griffin’s “Up to the Mountain” moved the panel so deeply they rose to their feet and applauded.

Dylan Rowe, Kyra Waits’ Husband, and His Career Path
Since September 2019, Rowe has been recorded as a Learner at MANCHESTER SKILLCENTRE LIMITED.
In addition to that role, Kyra’s husband has held a position as an Assistant at STEGTA. His first job was as a Crew Member at McDonald’s, where he was employed from October 2018 to January 2022.
During his tenure at McDonald’s, Rowe handled tasks such as operating tills, managing stock, and using the headset system. His performance there eventually led to a shift into kitchen duties.
Alongside his work, Dylan studied at Wellacre Academy and completed his GCSEs between 2016 and 2019.
How Long Have Kyra and Dyln Been Together?
Kyra and Dyln have been a couple since 2018; Kyra first made their relationship public in September of that year. From that point on, they’ve frequently shared snapshots of their life together across social platforms.
They first crossed paths at Lee County High School, and their Instagram is packed with affectionate photos and moments that illustrate the strength of their bond.

Waits and Dylan welcomed their daughter, Nyla Skye Rowe, on September 3rd, 2021 at 3:08 PM; she weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and measured 19 and a half inches long.
They announced Nyla’s arrival just a few days after she was born. Kyra had revealed her pregnancy in April 2021, and since then both parents have regularly shared sweet photos of their little girl on Instagram.
The couple frequently express how much joy their daughter brings them and have used social media to document many of their early parenting moments.
