Jeffrey Wright met his future wife, British actress and singer Carmen Ejogo while working on Boycott (2001), where he played none other than Martin Luther King Jr., and Carmen took on the role of Coretta Scott King. Their on-screen chemistry quickly sparked an off-screen romance, proving once again that life sometimes loves to imitate art.
By 2000, the couple had walked down the aisle, and soon after, their family began to grow. Their son, Elijah Ejogo Wright, was born on October 17, 2001, followed by their daughter, Juno Wright, in July 2005.
However, after 14 years together, Jeffrey and Carmen decided to part ways in 2014. Despite the challenges that often accompany separation, they maintained a harmonious balance in co-parenting. Their commitment to their children ensured a smooth transition into co-parenting, preserving the family’s well-being amidst changes.
True to his laid-back vibe, Jeffrey captured their post-divorce connection on social media, writing, “Separate paths now, but we made two humans that we love together. We still crazy after all these years. #RastamanVibrationsPositive.”
It’s clear that their decision to co-parent has paid off, as both of their kids, Elijah and Juno, are doing well in their own ways.
Elijah Ejogo Wright Is Following the Trails of His Parents
He is certainly living up to the family name, drawing inspiration from his parents while forging his own path in various fields, including acting. He’s already appeared in Meet Vera Stark and will soon take on the role of Jerome Greene in Season 4 of Godfather of Harlem.
But his interests don’t stop there. He’s also developing a strong passion for music, and his efforts as a singer are gaining momentum. His latest release, the lyric video for Life on the Moon, dropped on September 10, 2024. A graduate of Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn, New York, class of 2020, Elijah’s well-rounded education is clearly fueling his diverse pursuits.
Alongside his artistic projects, he’s using his platform for philanthropy, actively engaging in social causes.
Juno Has Also Set Foot in Hollywood as a Writer
Juno isn’t just another student juggling college and her Hollywood ambitions—she’s already making waves behind the scenes as a script supervisor while studying at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. With early credits like Atrabilious and Forty Winks, she’s proving she’s more than ready to step into the spotlight.
Her dad, Jeffrey knows how to keep family close. Whether it’s walking the red carpets at the Emmys and Oscars or attending events like those hosted by Malala Yousafzai, he makes sure that Elijah and Juno are right there by his side. For Jeffrey, these glamorous moments are more than just photo ops—they’re life lessons for his kids about purpose and passion.
