In the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment, Fiona Rene is emerging as a versatile force in acting, directing, and producing. Born in Great Falls, Montana, and raised across various states, Rene’s progression from theater to screen exemplifies her flexibility and deep enthusiasm for the arts.
She made a strong impression as the authoritative Police Chief Lyla in Amazon Prime’s I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021). As her fame continues to climb, curiosity about her off-screen life also grows. To quench that curiosity, here are four intriguing facts you probably didn’t know about her.
She Was Married To Jamie Brown
Rene once built a life filled with love and adventure with her partner, Jamie, a co-founder and realtor at Three Lions Realty. Their relationship was filled with laughter and spontaneity, as seen in her light-hearted Facebook post on November 7, 2015: “My husband is coming!!!!! #totallyfreakingout #punny.” This playful moment offered a window into their fun-loving dynamic.
Their time together was marked by shared adventures, like a thrilling morning spent paragliding, which Fiona captured in a September 3, 2014 post with the simple caption, “Our morning!” Jamie was also a steady presence during her most challenging times, such as when Fiona faced the loss of her grandmother, Vonda Lee Stapp, in July 2011.
Eventually, their relationship came to an end, and Jamie moved on to a new chapter in Los Angeles, where he found love with Milly Brown, and the couple now have a child together.
Her Parents are Her Biggest Motivation
Her father, Ronnie Max Oldham, has been a constant source of support and guidance. On June 19, 2017, she shared a Father’s Day post on Instagram, expressing her gratitude with the words, “Always giving me something to hold on to.”

Her relationship with her mother, Li Ying Oldham, was one of deep love and connection. Even after her mother’s passing in 2016 due to cancer, Fiona continues to feel her presence in every step she takes.
On September 23, 2017, she honored what would have been her mother’s 60th birthday with a touching message, “I’ll make us proud, Mommy.” This tribute speaks to the unbreakable bond they shared, even beyond life.
She Has A Passion for Piano, Singing, and Poetry
Beyond her acting talents, Rene expresses herself through music and poetry. On August 9, 2022, she casually posted on Facebook, looking for one-on-one piano lessons to highlight her musical expertise. Her love for singing frequently appears on her Instagram, where she shares clips of her vocal performances.
Fiona’s creativity extends to poetry as well. She has posted several soulful poems on Instagram, where she delves into themes of strength and vulnerability, offering a glimpse into her reflective and expressive nature.
She Struggled With Marijuana Addiction
Rene has been candid about her past battle with marijuana addiction, which she says began as a coping mechanism after the loss of her mother in 2016. Her journey through substance dependency highlights the complexities of addiction and recovery.
In an interview with Dr. Stephanie J. Wong for the Color of Success Instagram page, Rene reflected on her experiences with substance abuse. “I’ll say one thing, first and foremost, substance abuse. All right, that’s a huge ordeal, especially when you feel isolated and alone. A substance can become your best friend. It’s always there for you. It’s never judging you. It’s going to give you the same thing every single time. It’s consistent.”

Rene explained how marijuana initially helped her cope with her mother’s passing but eventually became a destructive force in her life. “I had been smoking marijuana pretty heavily… It really numbed a lot of the pain. And at the time it really helped me… It was definitely a great thing for me at one point. And then the dependency kicked in. It really became something that was harming me.”
She went on to discuss the broader nature of addiction, acknowledging how it can manifest in different forms beyond substances. “Addiction is a funny thing, whether it’s codependency on another human being, whether it’s codependency on a substance, a habit. And I really needed to learn how I dealt with my addictive habit… And that has been my biggest struggle.”
Rene also opened up about her journey to sobriety and how, after becoming lucid, she discovered that addiction can be transferred to other areas of life. She admitted to replacing one addiction with another, whether it was sex, love, alcohol, dates, or even food.
