In a heartbreaking tragedy over the weekend, Gregory Zecca—the stepson of Duane “Dog” Chapman—allegedly shot and killed his 13-year-old son, Anthony, in what officials are calling an accidental incident.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, July 19, inside an apartment in Naples, Florida, according to authorities. Officers from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 8 p.m. local time following a report of gunfire. The department has not made any arrests, citing the case as an “isolated incident” and continuing to investigate.
Anthony, the only son of Zecca, died as a result of the accidental gunshot wound. His grandfather, Duane Chapman—best known to many as Dog the Bounty Hunter—confirmed the death through a spokesperson, releasing a joint statement with his wife Francie: “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
