As a child, Christina Wren dreamt of being many things—a farmer, a veterinarian, even a superhero. These aspirations might have seemed varied, but they all shared a common thread: a desire to create, to care, and to be part of something extraordinary.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Christina grew up in a culturally rich household. She is of Lebanese descent, and her father, Saleem, runs a not-for-profit organization while her mother, Patti Ghubril, is an artist. Alongside her younger brother, Nate Ghubril, Christina was nurtured in an environment that valued creativity and community.
As she grew older, it became clear that her passion for storytelling would be the driving force in her life. She channeled that passion into acting and filmmaking, a journey that would eventually lead her to New York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dramatic Arts.
There, she immersed herself in the Collaborative Arts Project 21, Experimental Theater Wing, and Stonestreet Film and TV Studios. Alongside her B.F.A., she also pursued a minor in Pan-African Studies and took part in international study at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Even though she had many dreams as a kid, her academic background subtly reflected her longstanding love for drama and performance, as evidenced by her involvement in activities like Drama Club and Musical Theater back in high school. Yet, it was her experiences at NYU and abroad that would set the stage for her future career and personal life.
Christina’s path led her to meet Demetrius Wren, the man who would become her husband, on the set of an art film. Their shared love for storytelling and film connected them deeply.
But it wasn’t until years later, when Demetrius reached out to her for help on a documentary project, Streetball, in South Africa, that their connection truly blossomed. Working together in a foreign land brought them closer, revealing the depth of their bond not just as collaborators, but as partners in life.
Their relationship culminated in marriage on November 12, 2011, a milestone that marked not just their personal union but the continuation of their creative collaboration. The shared experiences and projects that began in their early careers continued to grow, both in film and in life, shaping their future together.
Christina and Demetrius Wren’s relationship has been built on a foundation of love, creativity, and shared passions. Over the years, they’ve developed a strong bond, frequently sharing moments from their life on social media, including anniversaries, and their adventures in filmmaking.
