Cheryl Scott, 41, is the meteorologist viewers rely on at ABC7 Eyewitness News. After several relationships and a previously called-off engagement to a former fiancé, she has since started dating Tyler Cole, whose work as a firefighter is both dangerous and relatively uncommon.
Here’s a look at the timeline of their relationship.
Scott and Cole Went Public With Their Romance in May 2023
Scott, a veteran meteorologist with training in geology, announced her relationship with boyfriend Cole on Instagram on May 30, 2023. She uploaded several beach photos of the pair and captioned the post, “My #1 🖤💫.”
The post prompted an outpouring of well-wishes from followers. One person commented, “Happy for you ❤️ hope you’re happy.” Another wrote, “Cute couple you look so happy🥰.”

They Marked Valentine’s Day 2024 Side by Side
After going public, Cheryl and Tyler have been happily public about their relationship, celebrating milestone moments together — from birthdays to anniversaries.
When Tyler turned a year older in November 2023, Cheryl took to social media to share a heartfelt message: “You light up the world around you! Happy birthday my sunshine ☀️ We love you so much!”
They continued the tradition on Valentine’s Day 2024, when the weather forecaster uploaded several photos from their celebration with the caption, “Can’t imagine life any other way! My Valentine every day!”
They Share Two Puppies
Beyond their relationship goals, Scott and her partner, Cole, are passionate about animals. They care for two puppies: Littie, who has 825 followers on Instagram, and Lola, who has over 5k followers on Instagram.
Tyler Serves as a Firefighter with the Dalton Hot Shots
Scott’s boyfriend, Tyler, works in a high-risk role as a U.S. Forest Service firefighter on the Dalton Hot Shots, a crew based near Glendora. His duties routinely take him away from home for long stretches, especially during the height of fire season.
In an interview with Spectrum News in September 2020, while the Bobcat Fire burned in the Angeles National Forest, Cole described the relentless pace of their work: “This is our 11th fire we’ve been on, working incidents for 106 days as of today with 12 days off since mid-June.”
Scott Accepted a Proposal from Dante Deiana in 2018
Before their engagement, Scott was in a committed relationship with Dante Deiana, a DJ and music programmer. They first met at a charity event in Chicago, Illinois, in 2016, hit it off right away, and spent the following years sharing many adventures.
That June, the pair even took a memorable Ferris wheel ride — an outing Dante reportedly enjoyed despite a fear of heights — which they documented online: see the Instagram post here.
Their relationship continued to evolve, and in the second week of July 2018 Dante proposed atop Haleakala Volcano in Hawaii. A few days afterward, Cheryl confirmed their engagement by posting photos on Instagram of Dante kneeling with a ring and sharing her excitement in the caption:
Dante Deiana, This proposal is beyond words and so magical. You have taken my heart to a new level… sky high! I am so excited to share the rest of life and every adventure with you! Thank you for making me feel so incredibly special and kudos to pulling off this epic, surprise proposal on top of Haleakala Volcano!
She Pushes to End Child Marriage Worldwide
About a year after her engagement to Dante, Scott took to Instagram to share her excitement. She said she accepted @primadante’s proposal during an “epic proposal” on @haleakalanps in 2018 and expressed gratitude for being able to celebrate that milestone, while reminding followers that not everyone has the same opportunity.
Rather than limiting the post to her own happiness, Scott used the moment to highlight her commitment to empowering girls everywhere. She speaks out against forced early marriages and calls for collective action so that every girl can choose if, when, and whom to marry.
As part of that work, she supports Vow for Girls, the nonprofit focused on ending child marriage.
Although their relationship moved quickly, Dante and Scott ended their engagement in 2022.
Reported Relationships From 2015–2016
In early 2015 there were reports suggesting Cheryl Scott might have been romantically and physically involved with former Canadian ice hockey player Patrick Sharp. She responded directly on Instagram, writing, “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed.”
Sharp also addressed the speculation in the press, calling the stories “laughable” and “comical,” and saying the rumors had taken “a toll” on his personal life (Chicago Sun-Times).
Around late 2015 into 2016, Cheryl was also linked to Josh Lachelli, the owner of Home Slice Pizza; the two allegedly dated for a brief period during that timeframe.
As of now, Scott has no children but maintains close relationships with her nieces and nephews.
