Ana Itschel Flores was born on January 16, 1985, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She is Honduran by nationality and identifies as Hispanic. In her hometown she was commonly known by her birth name, Ana Flores.
After marrying Joshua Jurka, Ana relocated to the United States and transitioned into television journalism. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she adjusted to her new surroundings and, in September 2012 joined Telemundo as a news reporter.
Within Telemundo there was an informal practice that saw many women using their husbands’ last names on air. Ana decided to adopt Jurka professionally because “Ana Flores” was a frequent name in Honduras, while “Ana Jurka” was more distinctive — a change her husband also supported.

Ana and Joshua Jurka: Married in 2011
Ana and Joshua Jurka exchanged vows on May 13, 2011, in a small ceremony at the Ministry of Zion in Honduras. The service was led by Joshua’s father, Pastor Peter Jurka, and the couple celebrated with a reception at Hacienda El Trapiche. They spent their honeymoon visiting New York, Orlando and parts of Italy. In 2012 Ana relocated from Honduras to Florida to join Joshua, who had already moved there for work; she has noted the decision was driven by personal reasons and their shared plans for the future rather than career motives.
Their family expanded with the birth of their first son, Seth Jurka, on May 27, 2016, followed by their second son, Noah Peter Jurka, on February 1, 2019. Noah’s middle name honors his grandfather, Peter.
