We all know Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, right? Only the ‘worthy’ can lift it, which has always been a cool concept. But it got me wondering—what if we applied that rule to anime characters? Could some of our favorite heroes (or even villains) have what it takes?
Anime is full of overpowered characters, but lifting Mjolnir isn’t just about strength. You need to have the right mix of power, heart, and a bit of that moral compass. So, who in the anime world would actually be worthy enough, according to me?
Let’s check it out!
7) Hashirama Senju (Naruto)
Hashirama, known as the “God of Shinobi,” was more than a formidable ninja; he was a peacemaker. He founded Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, creating a safe haven where children could grow up away from the ravages of war. His dedication to peace marked him as a true visionary in a time of constant conflict.
He deeply cared for everyone, including his foe Madara Uchiha, showing his enormous heart. Known for embodying the ‘Will of Fire,’ Hashirama placed the well-being of his community and others before his own, showcasing rare selflessness. With his unmatched strength and commitment to the greater good, Hashirama could definitely lift Thor’s hammer.
6) Nunnally vi Britannia (Code Geass)
Nunnally could totally lift Thor’s hammer. Despite being born into a royal family known for conquest, Nunnally always stays kind and compassionate. Her love for her brother Lelouch and her empathy for everyone around her, no matter their background, make her stand out in a world full of complex politics and war.
Even though she’s physically disabled, Nunnally’s strength comes from her heart. She always looks for peaceful solutions and is driven by a desire to stop suffering, not by any ambition or power. With her pure intentions, honesty, and commitment to a better world, Nunnally is worthy of not just the hammer but many great things.
5) Simon (Gurren Lagann)
Simon starts out shy, living in the shadow of his brother, Kamina. But as the story unfolds, he transforms into a powerhouse. Facing cosmic threats and devastating personal losses, Simon channels his hardships into relentless determination. His journey isn’t about seeking glory or being labeled a hero; it’s rooted in a profound belief in himself and his friends.
This strength comes from his pure heart and steadfast will to protect others and build a better future. He’s a natural leader who lifts others not out of duty, but because it’s who he is. No matter the challenges, he keeps pushing forward, showcasing his worthiness through his actions and the respect he inspires in everyone around him.
4) Aang (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Aang is all about peace, compassion, and balance. Raised as an Air Nomad, he’s a pacifist who avoids violence whenever possible. Even when facing enemies like the Fire Lord, Aang refuses to take a life, always seeking a peaceful solution. His optimistic and kind nature, even in the face of overwhelming challenges, shows just how pure-hearted he is.
What truly sets Aang apart is his ability to see the good in everyone, offering second chances to those who’ve wronged him, like Zuko. He doesn’t fight for recognition but for the greater good, with empathy for all living things.
3) Shinra Kusakabe (Fire Force)
Kusakabe’s got guts and a heart of gold. The guy’s been through hell – lost his family, got called a devil, you name it. But he doesn’t let that stuff drag him down. Instead, he’s out there saving people left and right, not caring if they’re friends or foes.
The way Shinra throws himself into danger to protect others is something else. Doesn’t matter if it’s a kid in a burning building or a teammate in trouble – Shinra’s there, flames blazing, ready to risk it all. Shinra’s all about putting others first, no questions asked, and that’s what makes him a real champion.
He’s worthy, no doubt.
2) Gyomei Himejima (Demon Slayer)
Gyomei is your classic gentle giant, towering and intimidating but with a heart just as big. He’s the type to get teary, not out of weakness, but because he’s so tuned into the feelings of those around him. Originally taking care of orphans before joining the Demon Slayer ranks, Gyomei has always put others first, showing a level of empathy that’s off the charts.
In a world riddled with demons and darkness, Gyomei stands out as a beacon of goodness, always ready to protect the weak and do what’s right, even at his own expense. His unwavering selflessness and pure-hearted nature are exactly why he’d be a shoo-in to lift Thor’s hammer.
1) Mumen Rider (One Punch Man)
Mumen Rider, the “Cyclist for Justice” is the perfect example of a true hero. Even though he’s a C-Class hero without any superpowers, what makes him stand out is his heart. Mumen Rider throws himself into danger to protect others, even when he knows he’s outmatched. He doesn’t do it for recognition or fame—he does it because he believes in justice and doing what’s right.
With a heart as pure as his, Mumen Rider comes out on top of all that is an Anime character who can and will Thor’s hammer. His humility, honesty, and unshakable determination show just how pure his intentions are. Whether he’s rescuing someone or facing off against a powerful enemy, he never backs down.
